Question: chroma photo green screen pet photography?
anybody use green screens for pet photography? I'm trying this to get around the need for a ton of muslin backdrops.. trying to create my own backdrops with colors complimentary to the pets.... etc., I'm having fun time trying to extract just the green screen without zapping the green in the rest of the photo... what the flip am i doing wrong? it should be easier than this. I'm using photoshop elements and/or gimp. also tried selecting the green first.. then doing the border thing... but with the long hair and green inside ... it's not working! help!
a white screen.. durh. i was JUST about to try that.. a flippin' bedsheet... what happen when you have white dog? black backdrop or? maybe gray?what about people? also utilize white? what to do with long hair on a woman, etc.? do you have to ponytail it or do something to hold it close to head or???
Answer: I would not use a "green screen" for what you want to do because you will actually be adding a color cast. Green screens were designed for video work and not for still photography. If you want to do this try just using white as your background and work from there.
I have a green screen and not until you extract the subject from the background do you see the green cast.

Question: What is the best way, 8mm and mini DV video put on DVD?I have about 60 tapes. I no longer have the 8mm camcorder. I do have the mini-DV camcorder and a firewire cable with my older Dell is working but not recognized by my new Toshiba. There is no software or drivers available for this camera. It's an older jvc cheap. My first option is that she transferred from a local company. They will do it for $ 15 per band, but they can not edited be. My second idea was to buy a two camcorders on ebay (with software) and edit it with Movie Maker. The third option is to transfer the 8mm tapes playable get dvds, use the mini-DV cam with my tv and edit them using a DVD recorder. I just was not sure if you can play a DVD while recording on your recorder with the same tv. I'm afraid if I buy the camcorder, they might not work on this new computer. Any help would be appreciated. I am A mother of five, and not super technical, so if the computer editing is very difficult, please let me know!
Answer: I am assuming that "8mm" means, Digital8 - please correct me when I'm lying wrong. Both Digital8 and MiniDV transferred the video via firewire. Firewire card cost about the same as transferring one of your tapes, so your cheapest and best option. The drivers for the card, the camcorder, and they are part of the operating system. You need a Digital8 Digital8 camcorders play tapes, but you should be able to record the video from the tapes with the appropriate camcorder. Video editing is not difficult, but it is not trivial. Windows Movie Maker is a good choice for a start, but it is quite limited - a play with it and get an idea of the basics. Once you are sure that you know, what do you want you can look for something better. The great thing is you can do so many mistakes as you like - the original footage is still there, safe on the band!
