Question: Can I rent an underwater housing for a Nikon D70s?
I don’t think that it’s worth the investment (for me) to buy one, so I’d just like to rent one and I was wondering if anyone knows where/if I can do that! Thanks in advance!

Answer: Check a high-end camera store in your area. I know the one I use rents housings for some of the more popular Canon & Nikon cameras. If you’re going on vacation, check with the dive facility you’re going to (I’m just assuming you’re going scuba diving); some of them rent housings as well, although it might be hard to find one if the D70 requires a specific housing.

Question: What is the best underwater digital camera to buy that doesn’t need an underwater housing?
I was in Mexico last week and while snorkeling I saw guy with a tiny digital camera (without housing). It was very small and skinny (like the Sony T10). Does any know which camera this could be? I loved it because it doesn’t require a separate housing! Thanks!
Answer: it’s likely it’s a recent Olympus model: the Stylus 770 SW, announced in January ’07 (for availability “in March”).
This is a 7.1mp camera, with a ho-hum 3x zoom starting at 38mm, and 0.8in thick. Nothing special except that:
- it is waterproof to 10 meters (30ft)
- it is shockproof for falls from up to 1.5 metres (5ft)
- it is crush proof for loads of up to 100 kilos (220 pounds)hope this helps

Question: using an underwater case automatically mean that all digital camera can go underwater and function? Is there a limit? The camera must be rated to go below 100 m, or whether the adoption of that accommodation? If the camera must be assessed, there a list somewhere of cameras that can get 100 + ft?
Answer: just like a clock, the pressure may be too for the camera. the body would have the same pressure rating, but would not change the machine. I personally contact the manufacturer of your camera and ask the same application to make sure you do not void the warranty.
