I’m doing a project that requires a case/housing to bring some electrical components underwater.

i know Olympus makes camera housing for their cameras, but i need to know some materials from which i can build my own casing and would like to get some suggestions.

I can only think of polycarbonate and polyethylene at the moment. Can there 2 plastics withstand pressure at 40m water depth? which is the best plastic you guys can recommend?

Answer: Many divers who make their own battery cases for lights use 1/4″ thick acrylic “Plexiglas” tube. I have also used schedule 40 PVC water pipe. Diameters up to 4″ work well. The round shape is the strongest, if you want rectangular the thickness would have to be greater.

The front lens or window is plastic, so beware of scratches.
