Question: Do you need help determining needs upgrades (alternator, battery), due to amplifier / speaker?

Currently I have a Panasonic 200-watt unit connected to 4 250 watt speakers and a 300 watt (cheap) power amplifier 300 watts and two ~ MTX subs running 2 ohms to the amplifier only 150 watts. The problem is my system isn't much better than stock, so I'll get a sub MTX 9500 to 1500watts dual 4ohm amplifier and a class MTX 1501D power, 1500watts at 1ohm RMS. My question is to what degree alternator, battery, capacitor, and so do I have to install anyway. Can I try to run the 300-watt amplifier to a battery and 1500 to a second battery. I need to know before buying, because I have no extra money to buy upgrades. Could always increase the size of the battery cable to the alternator and the earth and all, but do not know if that's enough to make a difference. I drive a Dodge Ram B250 I think with an alternator Mabye more than 70 regular and Die Hard battery. I'll take any opinion you can thank me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer: If the total system power is 1000 watts RMS or more, you must: 1. Upgrade the alternator to a high output alternator 2. Upgrading to a heavy duty battery Deep Cycle 3. Update the "Big 3" – that is to replace the power cord between the battery and alternator, the battery ground the chassis and engine ground strap / tranny to the chassis with at least 1 / 0 AWG. Failure to do this will result anyway, and replace the alternator fail in the future. Here's a guide to calculate what size alternator and power wires you need http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php?file=6d26c621 A second battery is never a good idea because it is an effort by the alternator to charge two batteries AND supply power for the car. The only time a second battery is useful is if the audio system for use with the car. A limit is good only insofar as the audio system is not trying to pull too much from the electrical system. A cover not more power, is designed to "harden" the strain on the amp, nothing else. If the current is not there, a cap, will not help. The alternator must have at least 20% more amperage power the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a cap to be beneficial, that is, ironically, the same requirements for an amp to be efficient.
