Question: Looking for a couple of children's books that I read 26 years ago. Tripods, metal caps, wardrobe for a new world?Hey I know you could be a longshot but I'm sure I can help book nerd. Book 1 - It had to do something with these huge tripods around and everyone had to wear caps of metal for some reason. I think it was to monitor all. Then one character cuts off his cap metal skull. This is all I remember. Book 2 - There was a couple of guys someone who has gone Ito cabinet. When I went there, there was a toll booth and something not to jumpng to conclusions. Any ideas? I read these 2 books of grade 2 and I am 30 now and yet I can not remember what they were.
Answer: The second book is the ghost of Norton Juster toll. And 'one of my favorites ever! There's only a boy, and he does not pass through a wardrobe (which might be confusing that with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe). But the boy (Milo) was sent a large package that contained the toll booth and a small car, and then went into Dictionopolis and Digitopolis and began his adventures. I'm not sure about the first.
