Question: How can I determine the size of ball head for my tripod?

I have a Tripod that is – Ambico V-0554, I’m planning on buying a ball head for it but i cant seem to figure out how to measure it correctly so i get the right fit. It would seem that i’ve lost the plate that attaches to the camera for the quick release & I only have the part that has a lever to release the plate, thus half of the “quick release”

Any help would be great, I’m a novice at tripods so I need the help.
O also, How can i know what thread size my camera takes? so that the quick release plate will fit the camera and the quick release will attach to the ball head and ball head to tripod lol :)

Thanks
-Brad

Answer: The size of the ball head you use will be determined by the weight of your camera and lens. If you are using a small point and shoot camera then a tiny little ball head will work fine. If you have an SLR with a 600mm lens then you need a large head or it wont be able to hold the camera and lens up.

Virtually all cameras have the same thread size so this wont be a problem.

My suggestion is to go to a good camera store with your tripod, camera and the largest lens you have and ask them for help. Check out a few options and see what you like best.

You can also let us know what camera and lenses you have. We could give you a better answer then.

Question: I am looking for a relatively inexpensive digital camera that has a remote trigger. Any suggestions?

I want to create a camera on a tripod and take pictures of something in a stand, without having to touch or push the camera out of position or change the focus so you can quickly / easily photographic documents.

Answer: Cheap digital cameras are not remote trigger, but the time off will be fine. Or buy a better camera second hand.

Question: What’s a reasonably priced tripod for a digital camera, preferably one that’s small when collapsed?

I’m a complete novice / amateur, just bought a Canon PowerShot AS570 IS. I would like to find a tripod that’s small enough to fit into a backpack and is not too heavy. Looking for something that is decent quality, but not necessarily intended for professional use.

this one might be a bit large for a backpack, but it’s cheap, has 2 level thingys, a hook to weigh it down, a carrying case, a quick release mount. It’s not the most durable tripod but it will get the job done. Great for beginners or amateurs.

Question: backpack Camera? With room for laptops and books?

I am a great photography, and need a way to bring all my things class. I'm in art classes throughout the day for most of the week and can not return to my apartment or my car to retrieve something, once I find myself the construction of art for the day. Here are the things I need to keep (but not everything I want) Blackberry, Ipod, wallet, keys, pencils, pens, erasers, films, 13 MacBook, sketchbook, notebook, and my cameras. (I know I'm asking a lot), Camera (and accessories) essay I currently own a three film SLR, a DSLR, a Diana F +, two extra lenses, a flash add-on, and from time to time my tripod. any ideas? Are desperate. I do not carry a purse or something like that, then nothing can be there and I can only take a bag in the studio with me. A bag, yes, I'm sure that a bag will hold everything, as would a large suitcase, but I do not go to school the airport every day.
