I am going to disneyworld and am looking for some advice on what settings to use for my camera. It it is a DLSR K10D. I have a monopod to help stabilize it. Since most of the shots are on rides or on the move, i know i will need some shutter speed, but am looking for the best compromise on speed and light settings. Thanks for the help.

Answer: There are two ways to achieve a faster shutter speed in low-light situations and you’ll need both – a high ISO and a 50mm f1.4 lens.

To see the value of the 50mm f1.4, look at this site – http://www.calculator.org/exposure.aspx – and use the Scene ‘Domestic interiors at night, subject lit by campfire or bonfire’ and select ISO 1600.
If all you have is the 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 zoom lens then you’ll be frustrated and disappointed trying to use it under low-light conditions.

f1.4 @ 1/250 sec.

f3.5 (extrapolated) @ ~1/40 sec. Your 18-55mm lens at 18mm wide-open. (Since f3.5 is 1/3 stop “faster” than f4 I added 33% to the 1/30 sec. shutter speed shown for f4)

f5.6 @ 1/15 sec. Your 18-55mm lens at 55mm wide-open.

So buy a 50mm f1.4, shoot in RAW at your camera’s highest resolution, use ISO 1600, use the camera’s built-in noise reduction and with the Shake Reduction in the camera body you may not need the monopod.

Q: Best camera and lens for a soccer dad?

Requirements: Can the action almost anywhere to record on the field. Rapid-fire Mode. Clear images without blur even when the children run with full force. Place to monopod (stand with one leg.) Did not occur to break the bank! I do not need a huge amout of pixels – 5Mega would be nice, even 4 if it bring down the price.

Answer: Unfortunately, you are probably dreaming of a DSLR and could lead to break the bank. If you want to capture the action anywhere on the field that you have a long telephoto lens, too. For my money, would I look into a Nikon D50 ($ 500) with a Nikon 55-200 lens ($ 170). This is not the "top" lens, but for the money, it's a good start for a longer telephoto range and is probably acceptable to you cover the box if you midfield. You can also use a 70-300 lens ($ 530) for really great cover of the entire field. The D50 has a few auto-focus modes that you taught him for the best results are for the sport. If you do not want to see this stuff Is there a sport mode settings managed for you. If you can not get into the thousand-dollar club, you could with a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. It has a "Sport" mode, but I find no specific information about this topic. It also has a continuous shooting mode, which takes 1.5 to 2 frames per second. This is not super fast, but can be very useful be for your purposes. Get a large memory card, though, as a 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II or (better) Extreme III when you are on continuous use mode. It also has a movie mode, but the image sizes are reduced.

Question: Where can i find a table that can swing over part of my couch (and then up against a wall when not in use)?

We have a three-person couch and the right side (if you’re sitting on the couch) is next to a wall (i.e., the right arm of the couch runs next to a wall). We don’t have room for a big side table (in fact, we have very little room between the couch and the wall so a normal side table, even a small one, won’t fit).

We’re looking for a side table that kind of looks like an upside down “L”. The base may have a tripod stand or just be able to slide under the base of the couch, and the top part would be able to rotate (or swing) over the couch and back up against the wall (or even fold down when not in use). The table surface itself need not be any bigger than a magazine (in terms of surface area). Just want to be able to set a drink, snack, reading material, or small laptop on it.

Does anyone know of a table like this? And if so, do you know where we can find one? Thanks!

good buy Canon Rebel XTi Question?

I just bought a Rebel XTi on ebay came with two lenses and 55/200 and 18/50 of a tripod table 2 Camera Bag filters, charger, CF card, lens cleaner, belts, cable for $ 356.00 good deal? I start classes this fall. Yes, I bought this used by eBay. I took several shots with and seems to be in good condition and there are no physical defects

Answer: Hello MDGirl. Fantastic deal … and is good to let people know that there are other alternatives than paying the kazoo. Two lenses? Memory Card? Are you ready for class right now! We hope that the camera is in perfect condition for you …. as it was a teriffic deal not, so teriffic something wrong with the camera. If you can … the day arrives, take it to a repair camera and just ask them to take a look for you. I'm sure I would not mind it out. Be sure you have fully charged and take the entire set .. so that can lok at the lens too. If all goes well, your ideal for a student of photography.
