Question: How does remote sensor/slave work for strobe if I have Canon XSI?

I am thinking of purchasing a JTL TL-480 kit for indoor real estate photo lighting.. I have a Canon Rebel XSI which does not have wireless capability. How can I use the strobes? Does the main flash have to be in use?

Answer: If you don’t want to use your flash on your camera to trigger the other flash units you need transmitter that goes onto the hotshoe (were you put an external flash on your camera) and a reciever that goes onto one of your flash units. When you take a picture the transmitter triggers the flash with the receiver on it and that flash triggers any other slave flashes that you may have. The other flashes are triggered by the light created from the flash with the receiver…it is instantaneous. You do not need wireless capability on your camera.

I want to get into shooting photos of skaters and BMXers at night or indoor skatepark with lighting poor. I know there are some lights slave out there, but i dont know where to begin. I want to be able to get away flashes from different angles, when the shoot.
