First up, let"s start by searching Ebay for Portable Support:
Question: Is navigation as an option for my new car worth it vs portable?
How much will it cost to get updated maps for my navi, and how long will it be supported? I plan on driving the car for at least 7-10 years, will they still support map updates for my in-car navi for that long?
Answer: Car manufacturers come out with new map updates every year. For my Toyota and Lexus, it costs about $100, but it is not really necessary every year. Every two or three years is fine.
The nav systems that are built-in are more convenient and have bigger screens than the portables such as the Garmin Nuvi series -- and don't have to be plugged into the cigarette lighter socket -- and don't block windshield view. I have both, and prefer the built-in systems, though I wish it had some of the features of the portables.

First up, let"s start by searching Ebay for Digital Zoom:
Question: how do i use the digital zoom on the SP570 camera?
i know how to use the optical zoom but i can't figure out how to get to/use the digital zoom on my camera. i have the SP570 olympus digital cam. please help!

Answer: Go through the camera setup menus and look for digital zoom option. It may have several settings, for example "20x", "100x" and "off". Set it to "off".
Then take your pictures using optical zoom only. Upload them to your computer and use any image editing software (of course Photoshop is the best, but even windows paint should do, or download a great free utility called irfanview). Crop out the portion of the image you want to digitally zoom to and save the file under different name.
Let me explain why I told you to turn it off in the camera. The reason is, that when you use digital zoom in camera, what your camera essentially does, is same thing as I described above with image editing software. It crops out the center of the image, then resizes it to look as if it was a full size image. That ruins the image quality and irreversibly throws away the cropped out part.
Digital zoom is a marketing gimmick that allows manufacturers to put a larger number on a camera box. This is not a camera function. Your computer software will be able to process the image much better than the camera. Plus you keep your original. Never ever use digital zoom in camera. It won't close up on a subject, it will just crop your image. You can do it on a computer.
LEM.

Question: What's the difference between Optical Zoom and Digital Zoom in digital cameras?
I know, Optical zoom is the one comes out of the camera and digital zoom doesn't. But other than that how are they diffrent which one do you recommend when I am thinking about buying a
5megapixel 5X digital zoom. or 5.1 Mega pixel w/ 3x Optical zoom.
the one with digital zoom is lik $119 and Optical zoom is 150
I am going to be using this camera for mostly family pictures and trips.Answer: Optical Zoom is good- it's actually changing the focal length of the lens elements to zoom in.
Digital zoom is crappy- it's like having a picture on a TV screen and taking a smaller piece of it to zoom in- so your'e just enlarging it and magifying the pixels, not getting any better detail.
