I’m really confused on lomography right now. I’ve seen so many cameras…some with multiple lenses, some with flashes and stuff like that. Does that affect the pictures you take heavily? And about the films to use? What is the best film to use for a such a camera? Or does the camera have specific films in which it could only operate with?

Answer: There are lots of different kinds of “lomography” cameras.

Some are 35mm cameras, like the Actionsampler or Supersampler which take 4 images from 4 lenses on a single 35mm frame. There is also the Fisheye and Fisheye 2 cameras, which sport a fisheye lens.
These are more novelty cameras, which do something unusual, but that is it.

Then you have the more traditional cameras, like the LOMO LC-A, which is 35mm camera with some fairly modern controls.

The other cameras that are best known in lomographic circles are the Holga 120, and the Diana+. These are medium format film cameras that use 120 film. Films? There are no special lomographic films. Most of the magic happens in the lens and camera.

Question: I just bought actionsamplers – Which movie is better?

I got my camera two younger sisters to start their actionsampler fun lomo (they can not begin before Christmas, but I look ahead here). Actionsamplers do not flash, though! The film I believe to be a good option is Fuji Natura 1600 – is great for non-flash camera, but I think it's a cheap and made in Japan only (I guess that's why it is so expensive – it is imported). So, my monster truck photography faithful … What do you suggest as an alternative?

Answer: All 120 film will work, you just have to live up to its ISO (and temperature if shooting film in color) for lighting situations. Using a meter will be very useful when shooting not in direct sunlight.
