As fhotoace says, it is entirely up to the skill of the photographer, little to do with the camera, although the one thing that DOES make a difference is the lens. Even the most skilled photographer cannot compensate for the difference between a high quality lens and a mediocre lens. Most camera kits lenses are mediocre or close to it.

Work out what type of photography you would like to focus on, decide which lens best suits that type of photography and then decide on the camera system. Avoid the DSLR kits, buy a body only and an appropriate lens.

Question: I have to do the "pulldown" thing with the PAL version of Canon HV30?

I'm considering buying a HV30 for some comic sketches that id like to have a pleasant appearance to the movie-ish. The thing is I do not understand any of this down jokes. But I heard version PAL of the HV30 does not have to go through this? Is that true? Or have I misunderstood something? I would buy an HV40 but I can get dramatically cheaper by 30 I would buy a lot of extras such as lenses, filters, and Sony Vegas to edit with. Thanks.

Answer: Forget 24p – is more a marketing ploy than a real advantage. The HV40 has 24p native, but sounds like you get a better deal with the HV30. The lenses will not to do much for you – it would be better to spend the money on a tripod and lights.
