Any camera that uses an SD memory card, has IS and a viewfinder, then buy it.

NO compact digital camera has any quality sound recording ability. They use microphones the size of a grain of rice .. not a high fidelity mic.

Again, most tickets state, “Camera’s and Sound Equipment is Prohibited”, so using such a device is asking for trouble

I was thinking to get a camera for the birthday of my friend. Can someone help me decide by Nikon, Sony, Casio, Kodak, Fuji, or Canon, or if there are other good feel free to suggest.

Answer: It depends on your preference and the price level of the photos that were going to take (eg expert). I recommend Canon or Nikon. They are really good cameras and have a variety of price ranges. It 's all about personal preference and what they're trying to do.

Question: where to I find an adapter for the Sony Camera memory card?

I have a new sony camera but will not download the pictures with the USB cord. The memory card does not fit the receipticle on my computer….where do I find an adapter?

Answer: Hi Susan:

Just about any office supply store, camera store, or Walmart / Target / Radio Shack or other electronics retailer will carry “USB Card Readers”. Just check whether your Sony Memory Stick is the regular (Pro or fullsize) or a Duo (which is half-size). Some card readers need the Duo Adapter to read the smaller size. (See the Wikipedia article for pictures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_Stick )

Expect to pay anywhere from $5 to $25, depending on store, features, and how many types of “flash cards” the USB Card Reader can handle. Also, make sure the gadget you get is Mac-compatible, if you have a Mac computer! (Some of the cheaper ones are PC-only.)

You can mount an XLR adapter for the new Sony HD Camcorder Webbie?

Answer: No. The "Webb", as the name suggests, is a video camera optimized for Internet video … in other words, is an ultra-low-end model. Sony knows how to make a camera … I have several of them, is a good brand. But do not get extra features at the low end. Thus, there is microphone jack and built-in microphone is mono-only. Like most of this sort of camera, is closer in design to the way digital video camera not a standard camcorder: tiny lens, no optical zoom levels, higher video compression, etc. What you could do is use a tape recorder off-camera. A MiniDisc recorder, a digital flash recorder, an iPod with one of the registration cards, even a laptop with a decent microphone (if you do not have a microphone jack on the laptop, you can get "USB microphones, which are basically just microphones with built-in USB audio interface). XLR microphones are generally more stuff end High … my $ 2,600 camera that comes with XLR jacks on it, but my cheaper, not so much. You can get an XLR to 3.5mm adapter for devices that take an external microphone, from a company called BeachTek … but probably cost a lot more "Webbie" did, just for the interface. Have you seen this done before, though perhaps not know. This stereotype "clap-board" of movies that you see around … this is what you need. High end film cameras do not have on-camera sound and film professionals have to their staff for recording audio. The "clap", presented by clapboard provides the synchronization point for multiple audio and video recording devices. I use similar things all the time to match up two or three shots from the video camera. Although audio "Webbie" is not all that great, it will record the sound of synchronization and is easy to match any best source off-camera.
