I recently bought an External Harddisk. I want to keep my data both official & personal in that, hence to protect privacy,piracy & virus threat, i feel if I can create separate logical drives in my HDD with some password security, it would be nice. What software helps me for this problem? Kindly reccommend!

Answer: If you have vista/windows 7, then software is built in.
If using XP you need a third party software like paragon partition manager, which i use and love.

In vista/Win7
1. Right click Computer
2. Goto manage
3. Goto manage disks on left
4. Click on disk you want new partition
5. Click shrink to create free space for partition
6. Right click new blank space Goto create partition

The rest is self explanatory, if not get back to me.

Question: How is a SATA disk faster than an IDE, if I run the computer on the IDE channel?

Everyone says SATA is faster than IDE, but since I have an old installation of Windows XP would not recognize my hdd if I leave the BIOS SATA mode. Gotta keep on FDI. I understand that it would be slower, but a disk SATA running on IDE mode to be faster than an IDE hard disk?
