Answer: You can buy the barebones Holga 120CFN from Freestyle Photo Supply for $47US. I know they ship internationally, but don’t know how complicated it would be to get a shipment to the Philipines.

Question: I am interested in my first digital SLR?

I need nothing elegant, just an entry-level starter digital SLR kit. Preferably something under $ 700 that was looking at the Canon Rebel XT, but you can not use the LCD as a viewfinder and not have videos which is a kind of detour The money would pay for it. I was also considering the Nikon D40 or D40x The suggestions are greatly appreciated so I'm not really worried about the video, more that on display

Answer: On the screen a viewer looks good but in reality you'll get the benefit through the viewfinder instead of the LCD. Optical viewfinder is much faster than any LCD screen, and by holding the camera to your face, you reduce camera shake – Increasing the likelihood of a less blurry shot, especially in low light conditions. So at this point if you are using the XT with the aim of the kit, the camera weighs about 2 pounds or less. Add an external flash, and replace the lens with something bigger, and you get a 4 pounds or more of the camera. For my part, not want a 4-pound camera as a pocket camera. So .. yes. Do not worry about the lack of LiveView (which is what they call), most professionals not even use it even if your camera has it.
