i bought a pair of black leather boots from Barrats shoe store in London

i bought them 28/12/2008 (Less than 6months ago) and its original price £80 marked down in the xmas sale to £30
but there is now a gaping hole at the front of both shoes.

Due to this hole it has become unsightly to wear (not to mention shameful) and un-weather friendly (all the water seeps through, when it rains)

I hardly wear them, so how the hole appeared and got so huge is beyond me, plus it is genuine leather, so it technically shouldn’t have gaped.

Do i have a case for a refund or should i cut my losses??
I dont own any animals .. so nothing has nibbled the shoe.

my home is nither infested with animals
and i have a shoe box which i place them in.. i dont just throw them around.

Answer: You can always ask. That is sub-par workmanship. Shoes in my opinion should be able to last at least a year if not more under normal wear-and-tear circumstances. Other people are right though. You probably won’t get a refund, especially if they are on sale. Can’t hurt to try. Some places like to stand behind a 1 year warranty on items. If the store denies a refund, go to the company that made the shoe (or the corporate office for Barrats).
