Question: Is there an external battery charger for an LG Dare battery?
I like to always have a backup battery charging in a wall socket, but i can't find an external battery charger for an LG Dare battery. Anyone know where i could get one? I already have a backup battery, i only need the charger,
Answer: I looked at the LG website and the only chargers I've seen for it are either the travel charger (normal charger where you plug it into the phone) and the car charger, which also plugs into the phone.
I've never actually heard of a phone having a charger for only the battery.
If you charge up both batteries the usual way, then keep the extra with you, you'll have the backup you're seeking. I normally just plug the phone in the car charger so it tops it off while I'm occupied.

Question: I have a dead rechargeable battery. Can I plug this into a wall outlet temporarily?
This pocket bike takes a rechargeable 12V battery just for electric start, lights, horn, etc. . can I plug the bike directly into the wall outlet using a 12V battery charger so that the bike pulls power directly out of the wall? Just to test if my dead battery is the only cause of the bike not starting? If not, how would I temporarily run power to the bike without buying a new battery?
Answer: It isn't that simple.
First, you should know what kind of battery it is - if it's a lead-acid (as it probably is), find the right battery charger, not just ANY charger.
Depending on its capacity, you might connect it to the battery terminals (pay attention to the polarity) and plug it into a household power socket. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE WHILE ON THE CHARGER - your typical charger cannot handle that kind of load and would probably fail irreparably.
You might switch on the position lights, which is about 10 watt - if it works, switch it off immediately and let it charge for at least an hour or two.
To start the engine, DON'T USE THE E-START, jump-start it by pushing in gear with the ignition on (provided it can be done on your bike) and use it some more, it should recharge on the bike (if it has a generator coil and circuitry).
Alternatively, you might connect a car battery (any size will do, provided it's 12V) for stationary testing - in that case, you might even attempt to start it Take care not to short the terminals. And yes, the battery might not be the only reason of malfunction.

Question: Best tripod options for lightweight travelling with a DSLR?
Hi,
I usually bring my Manfrotto tripod on my trips, put it in my suitcase and then strap it to my day bag where I go out. But this time I'll be travelling fairly light through cities and forests with a backpack. I've tried the Joby Gorilla pod but I didn't like how long it took to set up for it every time. It needs to have some sort of quick release to be useful.
Any recommendations on good travel tripods? I even thought of doing the bean bag thing.
My biggest lens is an 18-270 Tamron, fairly heavy, fairly long. (1.3lbs, 550g) and a small Nikon D60. So the total weight would be under 3lbs.
Answer: The best thing to do is visit your local camera shops and try all the different ones. I tried a dozen or so combinations before I found the best tripod and head for me. You can't always tell how well a tripod works/feels by just looking at pictures online.
