Question: Looking for a Good sturdy tripod?
I am looking for a good and non-expensive tripod stand. One tht is also easy to handle, I mean to travel with.
I own a Canon 400D and hve been lookin for a good, sturdy tripod stand. Also if I hve to buy the head separately, then i need a suggestion for tht too.
I hve seen the Manfrotto 785B - Can anyone give me some reviews if thay own tht stand.Answer: With tripods buy quality - buy once. Any Manfrotto or Gitzo tripods are good, its very much a false economy to buy cheap. With a Manfrotto tripod and head you frame your shot, lock the head and it stays exactly where you put it.
With cheap tripods you are constantly having to adjust for the 'droop' particularly with a heavy camera/lens combination. They are a pain to use.
A good Manfrotto combination is a 190XPROB with a 486-RC2 ball head. cost about £120.00, not the cheapest, but it will last a lifetime.

Question: How do you photograph crowd shots with a digital slr?
I have a basic Canon Rebel XT 8mp. with a 28-55mm lens. I would like to take some crowd shots of an outdoor concert. I would like to have a wide angle photo where the majority of faces are distinguishable. How high will I have to be standing at ground level? I do have a tripod that I can extend the legs and use at as a pole...is there any other tips out there for a great shot?
Answer: so you want to take a not so good entry level dslr camera and crappy kit lens (still worth several hundred bucks) and attach it to a cheap tripod held on by only one tiny short screw then extend the flimsy legs to max height and hold it as high as you can over your head to try and snap a pic while you're standing in a huge crowd of people?
rotflmao... that may just win you a Darwin Award!
btw... Av mode, f8, manual focus set to infinity. should work itself out at any focal length but stay closer to 28mm to get the shot you describe. good luck.
