Question: Panasonic Lumix camera repair?

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 which was dropped and which now has a slightly bashed front and a lens cover which doesn’t open and close as it should. I took it to a repair centre in the city a couple of weeks ago and they have only just got back to me with a repair estimate, of £120. I think that’s far too expensive, considering I only paid around £200 for the camera. It’s mostly aesthetic but I’m worried that over time the lens may become damaged if the cover doesn’t function properly. Does anyone know if it’s possible to have a camera fixed elsewhere if it’s not a hugely technical fault, rather than paying a camera repair centre where the prices are always going to be quite high regardless of how minor the repair might be? Any suggestions appreciated, thank you.

Answer: It’s really difficult to get the price you like for digital equipment repair — especially with digital cameras. Usually, what they tell you is what you’ll have to fork over because: 1. you can’t fix it yourself, and 2. there is pretty much no one else that carry the parts which is why repair is always ridiculously expensive.

Since it’s only a cosmetic thing for now I’d recommend using it until it gives out, after which you’ll have a good reason to buy a new camera. After all, there’s only £80 between your old, banged up camera and a new, shiny one.

Question: Can you recommend a digital camera waterproof? How does the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1 compare to Olympus?

I have heard far too many cases of people reporting that their waterproof Olympus camera had leaking seals. I need it for holidays (go to the USA), and can not risk buying an Olympus if it can escape. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a model that is not Olympus prone to leaking seals, or can someone tell me what the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT1 performs in comparison (image quality, speed, practice, etc.)

Answer: A camera Panasonic Lumix TS1 series is the best waterproof camera, you can get (it can also be the most expensive). Many people have had problems with the results of the image when they took pictures with the Olympus Stylus Tough-8000, so it probably a good thing you do not buy it. The Fujifilm FinePix Z33WP cameras and Canon D10 are your other options. The most affordable, you could get is the Fuifilm FinePix Z33WP. Question: Why should I buy the Canon 40D over the Canon rebel xsi?

Why should I buy the Canon 40D over the Canon rebel xsi? It seems as if the xsi has more megapixels.

Answer: More megapixels can mean more noise. With today’s offerings, megapixels are no longer a concern. Anything over 6 is fine. The 40D is a more professional body than the Rebel, but the XSi is slightly newer technology.

If it’s a choice between those two, pick the semi-pro 40D over the amateur XSi. The construction is sturdier, the controls will probably be better, and it will perform faster. Take a look at the reviews on dpreview.com. Check the conclusion and the image tests. Good luck!

I also have the software that came with My camera is originally installed, I can not say that. If anyone has any tips or suggestions, I could use, we would be very pleased! Thank you!
