Question: Does a memory stick require a memory reader like a card does?
Answer: In case you are wondering why the answers are all different, it is because you aren’t being specific about what you are referring to when you say memory stick. Typically this refers to RAM, which case the computer would be considered your memory reader.
Anyway, you probably mean a flash drive. No they don’t need a reader but they do need a partition much like a hard drive.
If the problem is that you are connecting it to your USB and then not seeing it, then hit start->run then type diskmgmt.msc and click ok. This will take you to the disk manager and you should be able to make a partition and format the drive.
I think most of them come preformatted though these days, anyways, hope this helps.

Question: I bought a card reader, access Memory Stick PRO, Sony camera.?I bought a card reader, access Memory Stick PRO, Sony camera. But the system does not recognize any of the above cards, if I tried, computer with USB. But it is possible to access for Philips DVD player. What must I do to access .. in the PC?
Answer: Do you have the card reader come with any software? It is unusual for a PC that does not recognize, something like a card reader. You could try a few things: Make your memory card into the reader, then insert it into the USB port. If that does not work, try one different USB port. If that still does not work, restart your computer and then try the steps above. Check for a conflict if you always still have problems. With the card still plugged in, right-click My Computer. The left mouse button on Properties / Hardware / Device Manager. Find any statement or a question mark listed at all.

Question: How do I turn off write protection on my Flash Card Reader/Writer? I have a micro sd chip inside of it…?
Background Info:
I have Samsung a900 cell phone and I wanted to put music on it so i bought a 1 gigabite micro SD card(http://www.transcendusa.com/Products/ModDetail.asp?LangNo=0&ModNo=96) and flash card reader/writer(http://www.kinamax.com/product/index.htm).
Anyways I put it together and popped it in the computer. I am able to read the pictures that took with my phone, but when I open the “removable drive” at My Computer and try to add MP3s or any file for that matter I get the response, “Error Copying File or Folder: Cannot copy U2 – Beautiful Day: The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk.”
Anyways as a result I cannot transfer anything new onto the micro sd card. As well on the micro sd card I made sure it is not set to lock.
Answer: Has nothing to do with the reader. Check your card, most have a very small slide switch on the left edge that will protect the card. You may have “snapped” it on accident when you were putting the card in the reader.

Question: How do I fix my Card Reader / Writer?I have a Card Reader / Writer that shows how 5 drives. I hate that, I really really hate. I want to show it as a drive only if it has a card to read. You know how when you insert a USB stick into your PC USB port, it shows only as a drive when you plug it in. Or is there a way to permanently rename the 5 drives, so that when I plug a card into the reader, I know what it is. I can change it, but it seems to rename back to their own "Removable Disk (E:), (F:), (G:) (H:) and (I:) if I shut down or restart the computer. Yes, there is a 5 in 1
Answer: Is it a multiple card reader? As a 5 in one or 7 in one card reader. If so the various slots, add the cards are actually identified as different drives or I / O devices. This is how your operating system to recognize them. You can rename it, but you can not be recognized as a drive or I / O device. How will you try to name them? You should open in a position to "My Computer" Then right-click the device and click Properties. Rename it and click Apply. Unless you pull the card from the computer, it should be named to keep the equipment.
