Question: How much should I pay for a Pentax K1000?

It 'been out of production for ten years. I'm just buying the camera with the 50 mm lens and lens cover. The manual is not included (but you can find online, anyway). I'm just not sure when to stop on eBay. What is the price is a rip-off and what is not? Do you think I could easily find this camera in a thrift store or a yard sale since it was the camera all the photography courses recommended for beginners for their students to use? If you think it is a species common to encounter. Ugh! I just do not know. Someone enlighten me, please.

Answer: With a 50mm lens in good condition, probably no more than € 100 used in a place like eBay. Note that the body of K1000 sell almost untouched is only about $ 200 in a place like KEH.com http://www.keh.com L 'difference is that a camera used by KEH has been checked before being sale, and we'll get a camera work or the possibility of return if does not work. I checked eBay listings, showing only 3 sales in the last K1000 90 days, at least for the cameras that seem to work. All sold for less than $ 60. If you're looking for a Pentax, I prefer the Pentax K1000 MX – much lighter and it will take a winch motor too.
