Question: How do I align my new printer?

Of course i`ve followed all the directions for automatic alignment, but when I try to print a page or a picture,it only prints a tiny corner and leaves the rest of the page blank. It`s an HP 2575 all in one combo. The picture photos print a full 4by6 photo paper, but only prints a corner of the original picture.

Answer: Hi Chay,
It sounds to me like its not an alignment issue, but more of a driver issue. See if you can print a test page from the printer (manual should have instructions) not from the printer software. If that test page comes out fine (full page being used for the test) then it’s probably the printer. I would go ahead and uninstall the printer using software, disconnect the printer from your computer, and load the software first, then connect the printer to the computer when the software asks for it. Give that a go-round !!!
Cheers.

First up, let”s start by searching Ebay for Epson Premium Luster:

Question: What’s the best paper choice for printing graphic artwork? I’m new to printing my work.?

My choices are “premium luster photo paper” “enhanced matte paper” and “premium semi-gloss” photo paper” (all epson products)
Image I want to print is a higher quality and without watermark version of “Phoenix Rising” viewable at http://www.bloowoda.com/art-gallery/art-gallery.html
Using Photoshop CS3 and an Epson Stylus 2200
Thanks Amy, the premium luster looks fantastic!

Thanks for the site review. Those were all on my “to do” list. Our site was thrown together (including all the content) very very quickly, but I made the changes along with making the graphic into a vector image. You missed that one :) You could see the pixels when it was blown up. Don’t worry we have the trademark symbol on enough other material to protect ourselves.

As far as the art, I use a lot of different things to get the image I want. Fractals are one of them. For instance, the swirling energy in our site background is a fractal that was colorized in photoshop.

Answer: Your colors are very rich and deep, and somewhat on the dark side. I would actually experiment with each paper type to see which one you like. I think that the luster or semi-gloss would do best; the matte might darken the print too much.

I looked at your website and it’s rather interesting. I do have a couple of things to point out, one is that you say that “Bloowoda” is trademarked, yet neither the TM nor ® mark appear anywhere that the name appears. (however, the discussion of its meaning was entertaining.) There’s also a few typos here and there (or wrong word choices, like “bare” for “bear” in your logo design info page.)

One last question (please e-mail me a response through my profile, thank you): are you using a Fractal program to generate the images?

Question: What’s the right printer paper for 13 x 19 artwork?

I would like to print 2” x 3” inch thumbnails of colorful artwork on a 13” x 19” paper to be hung on my wall to display art that my family has done over the years.

I have a high end scanner (Epson GT 15000) and can manipulate the scans via scaling and other tricks in a legally registered version of Photoshop.

My printer is an Epson R1800 and can create 13” x 19” pages to create posters that I can then place in a 16” x 20” frame.

I will use only Epson inks and Epson print paper.

My question surrounds the choices of paper available to print the best finished product – which type of paper do I choose?

The options I have are:

Premium Presentation Paper – Matte
Premium Photo Paper – Glossy
Premium Photo Paper – Semi Gloss
Premium Photo Paper – Luster
Ultra Smooth Fine Art Paper

I wish they offered a sampler pack where I could buy 1-2 pages of each to see which renders the best output – but they don’t!

So I ask you, what paper should I go with?

Answer: Hi! I understand your dilemma. First of all, the main consideration you have is what kind of art with which you are working.

If it is photography, a glossy paper would probably be best. If it is pencil drawings, a matte paper is most suitable. And, there are so many art papers to choose from now a days, Epson as well as others that you may want to consider.

I use a variety of art papers for my digital art prints, depending upon the piece of art.

Here is a link to a source where, YES, you may buy sample sheets!! I suggest just using letter size for samples. This is a great company to work with—very helpful, and there is a wealth of information just on their website alone.

http://www.inkjetart.com

For advanced information, the book “Mastering Digital Art Printing” is excellent. I am 2/3s of the way through it, and am amazed at how much I have learned about various papers (when I already thought I knew a lot!). It can be purchased at Amazon as well:

http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Digital-Printing-Miscellaneous-Johnson/dp/1929685653/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1203007631&sr=8-2

I have an Epson R2400, and spent a considerable amount of time experimenting with different kinds of art papers, which all gave me different results. I printed the same image (on an 8-1/2 x 11) on every piece of sample paper I had to be able to compare apples to apples.

Also, check out the sealers, which give an added life span to your prints.

Thanks for asking this question. Best wishes!
