Bill – also a good point. The difference between 1.2 and 1.4 is limited to bragging rights. My concern is the quality of the resulting images.

Answer: Zeiss had an excellent name for optical equipment dating back through the last century, but now even cheap Sony camcorders have ‘Zeiss’ lenses. The Canon lens appears to have a better spec 1.2 as opposed to 1.4, and the Japanese have come along way with lens quality. I would wait and read any reviews before finally making my decision.

85mm 1.4? Is it amazing or suck?

Answer: Carl Zeiss Planar T * 1.4/85 ZF Nikon rocks. I guess I must be the same Canon too! The lens, even when held in hand justifies the price! When the camera, there is no competition left. It has superb optics.
