Question: How can I take a picture with 5 megabytes a camera of 5 megapixels?I recently bought a new phone (LG KF750 Secret) which has a 5 mega pixel camera. I was wondering how to really take snapshots 5 megabytes a camera that has 5mega pixels. (This apply to other cameras too.) Thanks What would the environment have to do with it? bright light, for example, images of the sky, the grass etc.
Answer: As a phone, you will need to post process into a computer to create a larger file, perhaps save it in a format TIFF LZW compression. Why would you do?? It will not improve anything, just the memory waste. In a real camera, you must use a compressed raw format that will give you about a file size of 5MB for a 5Mp image. You could to process your image to increase the number of pixels to increase the file size, but it will not improve the image. If your camera has options JPEG quality, you can set on the highest quality that will increase the file size. You have some good ideas on how the image type affects file size. In a compressed JPEG image, take a picture of a pure color, without bones (eg blue sky) will give the smaller file. Take a picture with lots of confetti, like trees, grass, paper shredder from a cross-section; will create a larger file. Brightness will not affect the file size. Camera Noise affect size as the noise is equivalent to confetti.

Question: I understand WHAT a mega pixel is but is there somewhere i can go to see the difference?
I"m looking to buy a new digital camera and while i understand what a mega pixel is and what not. the problem is i'm low on cash and need to buy acheap one but i don't want my quailty of pictures to suffer a HUGE great deal. is there any where to go so ican see the difference between a 3 and a 5??
Answer: Unless you crop the picture a lot (i.e. blow up a very small portion to the full size of the picture) you will not notice a difference between 3 and 5mp in a 4x6 or even 5x7 picture.
Looking at pics on yoru screen is not a good way to judge because the best resolution of a flat panel display is only 1.7 mp. Many computer monitors are less.
If you want to see them printed you can right click on the pic online (assuming it's posted at full resolution) download it to your hard drive and then take it to a place to have it printed. A lot of work to discover there is little or no difference.
Rather than focus on megapixels look for these things:
A glass lens (many inexpensive cameras have plastic lenses that scratch easily and aren't sharp)
Fast focusing time and shot to shot recycle time. All the MP's in the world won't help you get that great pic if you're waiting for the camera to focus or write the last pic to the memory card--while the shot passes you by.
Good performance under low light (ISO capability of at least 800--higher is better with this number)
As long as you get at least 3mp--the pics you shoot will turn out good. The magic is in the photographer--not the camera.

Question: Is a pretty good 9 mega pixel camera for photography?I started a photography course and I was wondering if my son of 9 mega pixel camera will be good enough?
Answer: Mega Pixel has nothing to do with taking good photos. Knowing how to take photos is much more more important, as you will soon learn. So yes, your camera is fairly good, provided it has manual settings. Good luck with your course!
