Question: PC Sync Terminal Adapter.?

What is that small "thing" that you attach to the hot shoe when not in port PC Sync is available? It has a cable that connects to the external flash. Please I need the name of it. I long ago, but now I think I've lost. Know of transmitter and receiver that other people use but this thing does not yet use the cables of the radio signal.
