Question: best pocket camera?

so i own a Canon EOS 30D with 18mm-to-55mm lens right now. and im wanting a pocket camera so i dont have to carry a big ass camera like that everywhere. especially to school. since im taking photography, at school, and im really into photography. but there are times where u spy a perfect and beautifuly lighted thing or place and then you dont have a camera to catch it. im as ppl say a camera whore. sooo do you guys have any good quality, small, pocket sized camera that you guys would recommand? im got my eye on the cannon power shot. though not sure. and i have checked and compared the cameras online. though there are to many for me to choose(im an awful decision maker).and the money and price wont mater to me.so yeah.

Answer: I think the portability of a compact camera is definitely what you need. Since you already have the 30D…then Canon is a good brand to stick with.
I also recommend the Canon SD700 IS (I have one) It has optical image stabilisation, a 173,000 pixel LCD (which looks great), very good photo quality and is so compact & fun to use…and looks very stylish in an almost all metal body . It’s only downside is it’s lack of aperture & shutter priority.
The main reason I didn’t choose the next model up (SD800 IS) is because it’s promoted wide-angle is not good enough to warrant getting it.
Choose the SD900 only if you want 10MP and a slightly higher res. LCD, but no image stabiliser.

Another very good compact camera, especially using high ISO (handheld, without flash) is the Fujifilm Finepix F30.
It’s the one to get if you do a lot of low-light shooting. It’s main downside is it’s lack of a histogram and optical viewfinder…but it’s got aperture or shutter priority (but not both at the same time-doh!) and has an amazing battery life of up to 580 shots!

Or if you don’t mind a slightly bigger camera (but still smallish enough) then I would recommend either the Canon A630 or A640, which have aperture & shutter priority if you need it…and the very handy, vari-angle (flip out & twist) LCD. Their only downside is their low resolution 115,000 pixel LCD.

First up, let”s start by searching Ebay for Pentax Sony:

Question: Why do people choose different camera brand names, and what is really the difference?

I use and love my Canon, but sometimes I wonder if Nikon is better. And Pentax, Sony, and Lumix…Where do they fit in?
I wonder if I should try out all of these different cameras, but the cost associated with each would make me broke on the first one! Any suggestions and comments on these thoughts?

I have used a Pentax film SLR (one about 30 years old), and a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi SLR.

Answer: Sometimes, people buy things based on a brand that they trust. For example, I bought a Blu-Ray Player from Sony. It is great. I was so pleased, I decided to return to Sony when getting a camera, and got the TX5 (point and shoot) camera form Sony. I loved, so when it was time to get a new one I went with Sony again. Then I wanted a DSLR, so it would make sense that, since Sony cameras have been good in the past, they will still be good. Also, if I already have lenses for a Sony DSLR, and I wanted a new base camera, I would not go out and buy a Nikon and have all of these Sony lenses laying around.

Other times, it is cost/availability. Canon might be cheaper than Sony for a comparable camera, so if money was tight for me, I might go with the Canon. Or, I might see that there are more lenses carried in a store for Canon, vs. what they have for Sony.

There usually is a difference between brands, but most of the time it is not enough to really matter. In cameras however, all of the brands seem to have a different CCD, etc. that could make the difference.

Question: Which is better digital camera: Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W55 Pentax Optio M30 or?

The main thing I'm looking for is picture quality: Images of better quality during the capture? Other things I want to know is on these two cameras, which has better video quality, longer battery life, higher reliability, better anti-blur, and what a better value for the money I spend for the camera? If there is something that a camera better than the other not in an area, I did not ask, tell me that, too.

Answer: Here is a side-by-side comparison of the data: http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=sony_dscw55% 2Cpentax_optiom30 & show = all I have to say that it is a toss up …
