Question: How much should a photographer ask for portraits?
I'm a young photographer. I have a Nikon D60, a flash, a 55-200mm lens and am getting some collapsible reflectors. I have a real gift for the art, and know how to get professional looking photos. I have never done work for money, but thought about sending a news letter out to let people know that I'm available to do portraits.
How much should I charge and on what basis, hour, prints or both?

Answer: Most portrait photographers charge a "sitting" fee ... $350 is not unusual and include some little package of like five prints in various sizes ... the shoot can guarantee from 12 to 24 images to choose from and then any additional prints are billed at the going rate in your marketing area.
As a business and marketing tool, you will want to call all the professional studios in your area and see what they are charging ... then charge the same and for a few months publish a % off coupon with your advertising and news letters.
Later when you start paying the fixed and variable costs needed to run a studio and have to plan on recapitalization of your equipment every 18-24 months, you will not be broke most of the time. Buying two new camera bodies every 18-24 months has to be planned for in advance and your pricing structure has to include those costs.

Question: What should be my amateur SLR basic configuration will be?Okay, my camera is almost amateur but only because I decided to invest. So I have: my body: Canon EOS 40D * only * My goal: My Canon 28-135 zoom Canon Speedlite 430EX I even have a CF card a piece of good, a folding table tripod, a UV filter and camera bag. What other goals do I need? A telephoto or macro? What other accessories should I take? Thank you.
Answer: Before spending more money, take a class in photography. I already see some flaws in your choices. There is nothing wrong with a 40D, but is NOT an entry level DSLR, so that they could save some money initially to buy the purchase of the Canon Canon 450D The 28-135 mm lens is perfect for a 35 mm camera, but not for your standard lens on your 40D ... a 18-55 mm would have given you a corner medium-medium telephoto range of ... as you have a normal to telephoto zoom .... difficult to shoot landscapes or groups. At first there is usually no reason to buy an external flash to start filming things like events and at least one year of experience. You should have at least three or four good cards 2 GB or higher. The 'strap supplied with the camera is quite good, the purchase of a second was a waste of money. A tripod folding sounds like you bought gray market camera and they threw in as a sweetener. (It is useful to all for your camera end) The UV filter is a must ... good thing you do. A camera bag ... until it says, "I have cameras in me ... steal me now" should be fine, but a generic backpack is more practical.

If you're into wildlife or sports subjects I'd keep the longer lens, otherwise this is the one I'd get rid of. (Long telephotos tend to get the most use in paparazzi work, sports and animals.)
It's a personal thing but most pro photographers use wide and short lenses (up to moderate telephoto) much more than longer / sexier looking lenses, which are of limited use in smaller spaces. Your 55mm lens would therefore be of use indoors for interiors and candids for example, the 135mm would be good for headshots and portraiture.

Answer: 200 is the ASA / ISO film, So if you want to use the camera meter and do not want to waste his time with the film development and turn your camera setting 200 Yes, the film can be used for night photography (film can be used), simply adjust your aperture / shutter function what you want etc. effect.
