Question: Panasonic FX30, opinions?

I have been debating on a camera for a while now. I originally set out to choose between a canon sd1000, or a canon sd750. This camera was my original choice, it is the newer version of the FX07.

I eventually looked out and tried both canons. I liked the 1000, because it was small, had a viewfinder, and had the canon name. I eventually decided to choose this panasonic based on a few key features.

-leica lens
-wide angle lens
-small size

Just overall its a great looking camera.
What are your opinions on it? and do you have any sample images taken on it? and which color do you prefer? because from what I gather from the amazon reviews is that the only realy “metal” case is the silver one, while the others are a hard plastic material. This bothers me. So what do you think of this camera?

Answer: The panasonic’s are excellent cameras. The Lecia lens really is THAT good, and the best part is the 28mm wide angle that few other compact camers offer. Oh- and the OIS works.

the only downside to the panasonics is that they don’t handle image noise very well, and aren’t very good at high ISO. But- if you’re shooting mostly daylight, outdoors- you’ll love the Panny. Those tiny little optical viewfinders are near useless any way.
