A bad example is, "This is not a battery charger – it is a source of power!

Answer: Food is made to put out so much power that it can to maintain its 13.8V, or whatever the game is power. A battery charger limits the current of a fall of 10 amps or so, and even then, when it detects that the battery is to reach full charge, may scale back current. If power continuously at 10A or more charges, after the battery is full, the energy has nowhere to go but the heat and the electrolyte begins to Boil Off. This assumes you do not fancy, currently offers limited (as a bench supply HP). If you were to go with one of those, though, just by buying a battery charger would be much cheaper. I suppose if it were an emergency, you can take and a chance to use a power supply to charge a car battery, but you should check the battery state of charge every few minutes. Some battery chargers may only provide 2A, or in the case of shippers netting only 50 mA to maintain the battery.
