Question: What is the diffrence between Strobe lighting and Hot lighting??
Answer: One uses a flash tube at around 1/500th to 1/1500th second duration and the other is basically a lamp, but one that is colour balanced and is about 750 watts, so it puts out a lot more light than a typical 60 watt bulb like the one you use in your lamps at home.
If your subject is moving, you need a studio flash or strobe setup. If you are shooting static products or cannot afford strobes, then continuous or “hot” lamps are just fine.
Back before “strobe” technology was available to still photographers, we basically used the same lighting that the motion picture studios used … B I G lamps … up to 2K watts

Question: How do you turn off the strobe lights on your desk?I bought a system from digitalstormonline and it works really well. I want to turn off the strobe lights on it but when I go to sleep and the pattern is always enabled. Sometimes I leave as downloads on some MMO or software trial but the light is really bright.
Answer: Depending on the type of lights they use on there may be an off and on switch on the back of your computer to the bottom where your card Video or modem. Look there for a switch. Just do not tip the person who is right next to your power cord. Good Luck HTH.

Question: Will a Yongnuo YN-460 work with a Canon Rebel XSI as a speedlite? What is the voltage rating of the flash?
I just ordered a Yongnuo YN-460 and was wondering if the flash voltage was rated under 6volts…..Do you think it will work safely as a speedlight for my Canon Rebel XSI?
Answer: They are made for digital bodies so it should be safe for your camera. I haven’t used one myself but I’ve seen people use them as off-camera flashes on flickr. You could ask your supplier about the voltage or if you want to be 100% sure, put some freshly charged batteries in the flash, turn it on and measure the voltage on the contacts on the foot with a multimeter. If you don’t have/don’t know how to use one I’m sure you can find a friend that has one and knows how to use it.

Question: Can I use a Nikon SB-16 flash on a Nikon D40?Answer: Alan is correct. But using the flash in manual, you are essentially losing all the know-how in their new Nikon designs camera / flash interface. The Nikon flash system is truly exceptional, the better than any camera in production. If I were you, I have an SB600 or SB800 If you can, and take advantage of iTTL.
