Question: cokin filters which one is best?
im thinkin of buying a cokin filter adapter so i can use there filters. but what one do i get, ive got a sony a200 with a 62mm thread lense and also a 55mm lense.which adaptor is best
Answer: You really only have choice from the P filter size up, that is P, X & Z pro filters.
You buy one set of filters, one filter mount and you adapt the mount to each lens. This is what makes square filters very flexible. Once you buy the filters and the mount, you only need to buy an inexpensive 62mm adaptor ring and an inexpensive 55mm adaptor ring to use all of your filters on both of your lenses.
I have the P series which covers up to a 28mm lens equivalent field of view without vignetting. You can get up to 82mm thread adaptors for the P series.
The X and Z pro filters cost a lot more.
The A series filters are just too small.

Question: What are some key filter should I buy for my system Cokin filters?I bought a Cokin filter system for my camera together with 3 eternal density filter (ND2, 4 and
I wonder what other filters would be helpful, especially when I want to take photos at slower shutter speed in daylight, the Neutral Density filter is enough for this? Or do I need a UV filter or polarizing filter. Professional Photographers: What do you most often use filters? Thank you!
Answer: UV filter on a Cokin system: completely forget if you are a digital SLR. The point of UV filters on DSLRs is to Protection of the lens, but also for the work they need to be screwed on the lens itself, not on a filter holder, they have no positive optical effect, a DSLR, like its low-pass filter is now filtering all UV (and probably the sensor is not sensitive to them anyway). What can be taken too large a phased operation neutral (not "ever filter) grad showed a similar job as a polarizer, but it works regardless of the direction in which the camera is directed. The extent of the polarizers are effective in darkening of the sky on the orientation of the camera towards the sun. I would not recommend that you use a polarizer Cokin your system but will instead get the circular polarizer that with the right screw on the lens. This is much easier to use than to set up the entire filter Things every time you want to use a polarizer (and that's something you probably do often). Also, you can easily take a variable density filter effect, if you just another linear polarizer get you in front of your circular screw. The second one must be a linear, and it must be on the circular for this to work (two linear ones would work as well, but that would throw off your light measurement). You will be surprised how affordable linear polarizers are circular Incidentally, comparing, I paid only € 10 for 58mm Hoya. Why use polarizers as a variable neutral level instead of the Cokin system? First of all, it is a variable ND that you can set to the desired effect in the shortest time, and it is compact to carry. I have also found that filters in a Cokin System tend to degrade the contrast. Just a bit, if it is a single filter, but a lot if you stack filters. Granted my filters not the best quality However, I got a cheap copy filter holder from Hong Kong, which works fine (instead of paying extraorbitant prices for a bit of plastic and an adapter ring from the original Manufacturer), but I did not buy original Cokin filter is used, but the tian ya one that came with it. Try it yourself and take a look, such as the use and above all you stack your filters affects the histogram. You should see no significant changes there, when good and stackable. I definitely see a massive Tian ya filter change with stacked (rather than a single). The variable of two polarizers hoya ND filter but made no change histogram and thus the contrast in any Way, so I think it is totally superior quality in all user-friendliness, versatility and optical. I use the filter holder completed for a single ND filter, but that is definitely a strength of the system and that is a filter you should have. Go for the ND4 be completed.

Question: Looking for a good CPL filter, can you help?
I am a beginner photographer (taking classes next fall) who plans on using my camera for graphic design work, so I need a good quality filter in the mid-range market. I like the 'Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer HMC' but price-wise it is slightly out of reach. I defiantly want something that is multi-coated. Is there something that is similar in quality to the 'Hoya 58mm Circular Polarizer HMC'? And would it fit with the double threaded hoya filter i plan on buying? What would you suggest? I'll probably will just end up saving up to get this one, but I was wondering what kind of options were out there.
Thanks in advance! ^_^
Answer: First, its usually not a good idea to "stack" filters, especially when using a wide angle lens. The result may be vignetting (dark corners) on your pictures. I always suggest buying filters in a "thin" or "slim" mount, especially for use on a wide angle.
Second, Hoya is a good brand, as are B+W, Heliopan, Tiffen and Singh-Ray. A quality filter should be considered an investment since they will last a long time with reasonable care.
You should always have a UV/Haze filter on your lens to protect the front element.

Question: Pls detail difference 'between a HOYA Super HMC Pro 1 Multi-coated 58 mm filter and a Tiffen 58 mm UV filter?two filters: Hoya Pro 1 Super HMC UV 58 mm plywood (0) Filter Tiffen 58 mm UV filter I bought both, I have an XSi with the kit lens is F and a 50mm f / 1.4 and was looking for some filters. I was able to collect a third of the cost Tiffen Hoya ofnthe (I bought both). Functionality wise, in relation to protection and quotient intelligence, it is there that much of a difference? (Justified by $ $). I'm not sure if the Tiffen has multi-coating and to what extent thats important. Thnx in advance, just looking for a "Readers Digest Condensed Version" of the difference between the two filters. Both are recognizable brand names, I know. Thnx
Answer: La Hoya says "multi-coated" and the Tiffin does not. Insofar as what they will do, there will be enough difference between them for each subject. You could do yourself a favor and discover the multi-layer really is and what it does. Multi coating on the filter will make little or no difference at all. Using a naive example, What coating is no longer to stop the light bouncing around in the air / glass chambers of the lens. That translates into a higher definition, a better contrast (blacks are blacker and whiter whites, for example). This is much easier to see if you take a SMPTE test slide, which you can buy fromvarious sources, and projected on a screen with a Kodak slide projector. By comparison, for example, you can use the standard 4-inch Flat Field Kodak lens projection (made of plastic and uncoated) and compare it with a 100mm Schneider multi-coated projection lens. You'll see less color fringing by Schneider, contrast with the Schneider, and better resolution with one corner Schneider. While Schneider is in the days of multi-projector displays images, I sold a lot of lens-based test so. So I guess I could say that if you reversed the process used uncoated or single coated lenses and taking over the final product with high quality lenses multi-coated grip, you should see the same things. So, in my opinion, if one looks for the purchase of filters that are multi coated and cost much more, you're throwing away a lot of money. Just stick with brand names, and Tiffen is very good.
