Question: Why does a circular polarizer not produce linearly polarized light? How do you show this experimentally?
Answer: A circular polarizer isn't really a polarizer at all then is it?
It would produce light polarized in a circular pattern which means the light waves would be oriented in every direction and w/ diffraction the light everywhere a distance from the polarizer would be in all directions. That is, unpolarized.
Show it experimentally by the same experiment you use to detect polarized light. For example. Using a know polarizer, turn the polarized infront of the polized light source until the light is almost completly blocked by the known polarizer. The known polarized is now 90 degrees to the polarized source. Now repeat with the "circular polarized", you won't be able to use it to block the light, thus showing that it is not polarized.

Question: Why does not the sky look bluer?Qualified responses only, please. I was an amateur photographer for almost 40 years, but it left me speechless. I use a Sony Alpha Dslr 55 with a circular polarizing filter. When I compose a shot with the polarizer in the AUTO mode, the sky is very dark blue, which is the effect I'm trying to, but when I see the photo, the sky is a little lighter than it looked on tones LiveView. All other devices I've used both film and digital, the sky show Nice in a dark blue color, so why not the A55?
Answer: The two cameras pointing at the same stage filter with the same rotation in the same way? You should get a similar, if not the same result. You need to do a scientific experiment here. Two cameras (As you say), the same objective, same filter, and taken at the same time (because the questions of the sun). I really think they look alike.
