This means a sword-like object, which should actually be hung on the wall, and should not something for otherwise be used as a display. If the blade is silver and bright, it is stainless steel, which definitely means there is a wall mount is made. Stainless steel is ideal for Pocket knives and kitchen cutlery, but it is too brittle for a sword.

I bought the velbon in store, and loved it. But then I discovered the Nikon one and thought it might be better quality or "fit" Nikon better??!?!?

Answer: Both the Tripods are equally good.
I find Nikon one a little smaller and less heavy to carry. However, Velbon one seems more sturdy to hold big cameras (like D5000).
Velbon is known for its tripods and has been making them since last few decades. If you go by brand, Velbon is much better than Nikon when tripods are concerned.
