Question: What is the difference between NiCd, NiMh, and Li-Ion rechargeable battery packs?

I know what the abbreviations stand for, just not sure on the pros and cons of each type.

Answer: NiCd must be fully drained before recharging (will shorten duration if you don’t.) However, they take longer to wear out (and are cheaper than) NiMh.

NiMh can be recharged at any time, although the battery duration will get shorter through the life of the battery. Generally the best choice for rechargeble batteries in digital cameras, since the camera does not actually drain the battery completely.

Li-Ion are designed for devices that can be continually plugged in, charging when needed, and have the longest life (and one can purchase batteries of differing durations, if you want more). These are the most expensive and are the type normally included with portable electronics, like cellphone, laptop computers, iPods, etc. Needless to say, it’s the best quality (and most expensive of the three.)

Question: When a unit Duracell NiMH battery, it does not matter what mAh batteries I use?

This is about a year old battery unit for AAS and AAAS, but I can not seem to find anywhere mAh on the battery charger has a maximum battery. All the batteries I have for this are 1800 mAh, but when I went into the shop, it sold only 2000 + mAh. Would it make a difference?

Answer: No, it should make no difference. As long as the charger is used to play NiMH batteries, the capacity does not matter. The charger senses when the batteries are charged and not charged. I would think the 2000 + mAh batteries maybe take a bit longer to load though. I think that would be the only difference. Nor should NiMH battery brand do not matter.
