Question: Cheapo way of doing digital backdrops (chroma key)?
I was thinking of buying a green shower courtain (of course one that isn't shiny or reflective) to do digital backdrops, my question is... do yall think this will work? what other cheap stuff can one buy to do chroma keying? I just want to experiment here at home! with photos!
Answer: I bought "chroma key" colored green material I found at my fabric store. I think I paid $1.50 a yard for it and got 3 yards. Since I do not do any large groups the 60" fabric width was plenty wide enough. I bought a $15 6' tall garment rack from Wal-Mart and sewed the material like a pillowcase to fit over the rack. I works perfectly for what I do and is portable and non-permanent. Since then I have bought some blue "Chroma Key type" material and cheap fabric in various patterns for backdrops and sewed them in the same way for quick changes. Makes what I do much easier. and it takes up very little space.

Question: questions on green screen .....? photoI want to be able to take photos and then add a background to their computer. Even doing things as: * Put a kid in a flower * Add props Digital My question is ..... * I need a green screen software or I could just use my photoshop * How does not exactly remove the green screen (if you use photoshop you can just use the Magic Eraser?) * I found the green screen background, but could not find a green leaf as something for the floor (to sit or stand up) * There is a good digital frame and underpinnings website to buy cd is out (what I found seems a bit 'of cheese)
Answer: Good question! You can use any color you like (blue is common), provided that contrasts with the subject. Even so then you are going to need Photoshop to put out your image. The advantage of a contrasting color is that you can use channel-based selections using tools like the magic wand that will give you speed if not the accuracy (usually a compromise). There are various proprietary software packages knock-out on the market - would some research to see what suits you ... will probably be a good investment if you are thinking about a lot 'of this type of work.

Question: Wanting to start inhome portrait studio?
I'm wanting to create some type of inhome portrait studio but am not sure what equip to buy. I'd like to be able to take portraits of my kids using different colored backdrops and props. (like how Sears or Jcpenney does)
I have a Canon Rebel XTI digital camera. Canon external flash and 300 zoom lens. Photoshop program on my computer and nice photo printer. What else do I need to purchase? Any other tips or advice?
Answer: Off camera flash/strobe or continuous lighting, backdrops, but mostly...
You need to have the ability to use the camera. Is this a hobby thing?? or a business thing??
If hobby, you can get material for backdrops and lighting from fabric stores, home improvement stores, etc...

Question: Cheaper Digital Backdrops?Does anybody know where I can be cheaper than the digital scenes theone www.ultimatebackdrops.com i get reflected on ebay, but I need it fast.
Answer: After looking at the website I thought to myself, geeee, why not and make your own "digital scenes" .. some, only with color and there could be painted in almost every "how program or take digital pictures of colorful wrapping paper and such. digital backdrops are nothing more than wallpaper for your computer. to think out of the box and why others pay for something, you could make your themselves (or make available on the web) .. bob - Tucson
