Question: Please help if you can! Where can I find an LCD monitor for an HP notebook?

I had a warranty of 90 days of my HP notebook and left the monitor no longer works. When calling HP to this problem I had shipped it to them and now they are telling me I need a new LCD monitor for them and that of course this is not covered by the warranty … Go figure! You are saying to me it will cost me 738.00 to repair and the truth is, it cost me less than 700.00 brand new. I am now left to just try and fix it myself. I would really like everyone knows that if you buy an HP not an extended warranty to Buy, because the original warranty is probably not a good! Thanks for any help or suggestions!
