Hello
I was planning to buy a DSLR for a along time and now I came across an offer. Now i am a little confused. which one to buy?

Canon EOS 1000D + 18-55mm + 75-300mm for 650 Euros and
Nikon D3000+ 18-55mm + 18-200mm+ 4GB SD card + Carry case for 600 Euros
both with usual accessories

I have a likeness towards Canon from the begining because I have experience with my friend’s Canon D450. I plan to shoot nature normal functions in my University.

So what is your opinion?

Answer: It depends on your personal preference, really. Both camears are evenly matched in terms of features and resolution, although the lens choice with the nikon is redundant. An 18-55 and an 18-200 are the same on the wide/normal end, which is a waste of having two lenses. Everything the 18-55 does can be done with the 18-200 and beyond, making the 18-55 useless. It’s a superzoom, a lens that you can get good reach with, AND wide angle, there would be no reason not to use the 18-200 in any situation you find yourself in. So there’s no sense in paying for something you will not use. In this case, the canon setup is a wiser choice because you are not losing any focal length through redundance.

If you have a preference for the canon, get it. Always go with your gut, which is what will differenciate the two when you can’t find any difference on paper. If this is an online thing, take a trip to a local camera/electronics store that sells both and try them out, see how each one fits in your hand and how well you like how all the controls are laid out.

Answer: You can always it on eBay. Or try KEH, a reputable camera dealer on-line. If your lenses are is rare and desirable, you will probably not do much for your kit. Perhaps at the local college or high school Camera Advertising Club? Good luck!
