Question: What cable do I need to import video from my camcorder to my mac?the camera which I have called Canon ZR830. All old. And I have a macbook .... version number? It's a new aluminum. No, not her pro. But I tried to use USB with blood and still not recognize it. Please, and nonprofit offense, if you're a Mac geek .... what cable do I need? I have to make some videos of this week to utube. I've never uploaded a video camera. Just from my webcam. Thank you all! Sara I'm sorry I totally forgot to put the real problem. The slot where the cable enters the computer, it is very rare, its only USB ... and I do not think it Firewire ...
Answer: You have a mini dv (cassette) ... camcorder. The DV camcorder need a FireWire connection (IEEE 1394) for download video, Firewire to USB does not work to download the video. You could end up with the video only sound or only. Your Mac can not come with a FireWire port, so you have to buy one and install it. Hopefully, your Mac has an empty bay.You have to buy a firewire cable too. The camcorder comes with a cable USB and used to download photos from your video camera. Make sure your camera is in playback mode. The small print in the manual referred to a FireWire (IEEE 1394).

Question: Why wont my Mac Book recognize certain type of USB sources?
Ok, so I just purchased a mac book about a month ago. (The aluminum one with 2.0 GHz) I am now running into the problem that the computer has suddenly stopped recognizing certain types of USB sources such as external hard drives, memory sticks, camera's, etc. There are no errors or anything occurring, the computer wont even show that its plugged in. But, it works fine when I plug in my iPhone, iPod, or mouse. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
