Question: Canon EOS Rebel G 35mm camera-$70 or Minolta Maxxum 430si 35mm-$150? Which is a better deal for a beginner?

I like ART in general, and have a mind that is in a world all it’s own. I would like to expand my artistic side into photography. Be it outdoors with nature and people or in a studio or products, I just want to think out side the box more. I saw these two cameras and was wondering which is better for a beginner. I may end up buying both but I wanted to know all the same. I want to be ablet to shoot inside and outside. Don’t think any of them come with flash, but I think the minolta has a flash shoe adapter, don’t know what that is just yet. I think they both need a flash … sure I can purchase one later right? Obviously these cameras are not brand new …

Answer: I would choose the Canon … If you ever go over to a DSLR, all the lenses you end up with using the EOS 35mm will work on any of the Canon EOS digitals.

The other option is to purchase a auto-focus Nikon “N” series 35mm camera … the same would hold true for any of the lenses you use on it … directly compatible with Nikon DSLR’s

Another excellent place to find Shoe Adapter Minolta is on Amazon… They have way more than just books!

Question: I want to connect a Vivitar 285 to a Nikon D60?

I want to hook a Vivitar285 flash for a Nikon D60. There can be no other outlet hot shoe flash available on the D60 so I want to use an adapter AS15 or something similar. I know I'll have to shoot manual, but I have my trusty Minolta flash meter for this. Please dont tell me to buy a dedicated flash SB, and I can not afford it. I can barely afford the D60. He is also the D60 came with a joke. charger or is that an option? I am an old movie that society is changing to digital. Thanks to all

Answer: Do not try to use the 285 on the D60 until I have not bought a Wein Hot Shoe to Hot Shoe Safe-Sync. It protects the camera from high voltage activation 285. Ask your local professional camera store or look: http://www.keh.com http://www.bhphotovideo.com http://www.adorama.com I think there was a review in Shutterbug Magazine. You can check in http://www.shutterbug.com.
