Question: Mid End-Mini DV Camcorders *eye twitch*?

I’m searching for a MiniDV Camcorder with high zoom (25-30+) for use at the upcoming Drift Finals in California, transfer to computer is a requirement for the camera, preferably non IEE1394 (FireWire). I hate Macs… >.o

Can’t afford the nicer Higher End cameras that I’ve been drooling over, but I don’t want the low-end crap that I’ve seen. I would like to use the camera for amatuer film making as well. Low light a plus!

Image Stabilization? Don’t really care for still shots, I can use programs for that…

Please help!!

I’ll be saving approximately $500 for everything *camera+tripod and other accessories* but I can save more if required, I have about 2 months before the drift event! *Oct. 14th* but would like to decide around Oct. 1st to allow delivery? If bought online.

And, I’ll still be searching around the web for some too…thanks!

Answer: Get a good used Sony DCR-TRV520 Digital8 camcorder through eBay for about $250-300. It has a 25X zoom, optical image stabilization (superior to digital methods), and good color reproduction. It also has external mic and headphone jacks.

Firewire/IEEE-1394 also generically called DV port or i.LINK by Sony works with both Macs and PC’s and is the best way to transfer digital video.

Question: Setting up more DPI scanner, but this gives large images?

I'm trying to produce photo-quality explorations handmade greeting cards so that cards would be painted, I have not seen yet, now that I read all that says for the Department of Public Information in the scanner at the highest DPI, but this custom to the large images as 2048 x 1760, etc. .. i could reduced to 640×480, but while this mess? I need about 600×480, but very high quality. I am conviced that a digital camera would be better if things are set in a type of mini wihh study of creation behind a screen and tripod, light adjustments, etc. but what I've read since then no scanner is better, but How can you possibly scan matches the photo realistic quality of a camera? hmmmmm I do not know what I need, undertsnad not even have a camera or scanner at the moment but I Rememer exploration in the past and not very flat, 2D and unrealstic like? I mean we've all seen the amazing quality that some cameras can produce. How do you do?

Answer: quality scanners do a better job of scanning something like you are describing, as they are designed to capture three-dimensional images rather than two dimensional images of the three cameras were designed. More importantly, it will be much less work and more reliable, because, with good equipment that you can preview the image, make adjustments and corrections of the image and quickly determine how the final image will be. Finally, be less costly to purchase equipment and probably cheaper to operate. With a camera is necessary to create some kind of copy stand to hold the artwork and keep it flat. Also need support to keep the camera and be able to align the camera precisely so that the plane of the image on the sensor is parallel to the workpiece in both axes of the sensor. Finally, it will take some type of light source can uniformly illuminate works of art, it usually means at least two lamps, but I prefer even for lighting four (two on each side of the workpiece at angles of 45 degrees of the image). Here are a couple of sites with basic solutions ~ http://alzodigital.com/online_store/Alzo_100_macro_studio.htm http://www.adorama.com/CECS1070.html?searchinfo=copy+stand With a scanner will have a uniform lighting, convenient control and roof extension is designed to support the flat image. The DPI is not the only factor in determining image quality and be able to adapt it to get the results you want. It may take a little experimentation to get exactly what you want, but then you have a high repeat factor with minimal fuss. Look in the Epson line of scanners because they have a comprehensive picture range of models that include photo scanning capabilities. For less than the price of a separate copy (not to mention a camera) which could have a base of quality scanner Photographic and be ready to go. Here is a link to a list of Epson V300 or V500 model would probably do everything necessary to deliver quality results impressive. Http: / / www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/ProductCategory.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid = IREF = -8172 & homepage_products_scanners Finally, Here are some examples 35mm slide made with a quality scanner. The size of the slide base is 24×36 mm (about 1 x 1 3 / 8 inches) and scanned the results are excellent. I had no problem printing 8×10 enlargements of them. Http: / / www.flickr.com/photos/robs-photo-memory/sets/72157617690586928/ HTH, good luck. Additional comment: I disagree somewhat with a screwdriver in connection with the comment that with a camera is faster. There are three reasons why they believe that digitization will be faster 1) In my experience using copy is implies a good deal of manual effort to "play" with the alignment and size of an image in the viewfinder, this is time consuming and often frustrating. Scanning Time 2) vs. processing time, modern scanners are quite fast and the image is available immediately on the computer, but with a camera (unless it is tied to a computer) are still needed to transfer images from camera to computer. 3) Rapid analysis and revision with a scanner can immediately check it and re-scan adjustments if necessary, the mini-screens of the cameras digital are not suitable for critical evaluation of the outcome, if not satisfactory, it is necessary to go back and redo the whole process in the camera, etc.

Question: I dont know what telescope i should buy.?

Im thinkin about either buyin a Meade 70AZ-USB Telescope with USB Color Camera with 70mm diameter lens and
2 premium 1.25″ eyepieces or a Bushnell 4.5″ Reflector Telescope with Classic shorttube design for ease of use
Reflector style telescope
Red dot finder scope
4.5″ mirror
All aluminum tripod
Includes two eyepieces
1.25 ” eyepiece
500mm focal length
120X max. magnification
according to walmart
or a Meade Telestar RB-60 Telescope with
2-element coated 60mm optical glass objective lens with smooth single arm mount
Manual slow motion controls
700mm focal length
Fully adjustable aluminum tripod with accessory tray
Includes two 1.25″ eyepieces for low and medium power according to walmart? I am not an astronomer but would like to start out observing the universe (planets, stars, and moons). I want to get something that i can use for my first 1 or 2 years. Is a refractor telescope better for my job or a reflector.

Answer: Never, ever buy from Walmart, Coatco, Target, or any other discount store like that. Junk scopes are flooded into the market from those stores. You will be buying nothing but bad optics and plastic.

Orion is the very best for value and for customer service to. I have 2 of their scopes and I will only buy from them from now on.

Things to consider are size–can the user lift and transport the scope to the viewing site easily? If not, then it will gather dust in a closet. Can the viewer reach all the knobs and buttons? I have a long tube large manual refractor and it is very dificult for me to reach the knobs when I am pointed to Zenith. I am not a tall person.

Take your time in making your decision.

I would like to suggest that you join a local astronomy club or astronomical society BEFORE you spend your money on a scope. There are many different kinds of scopes and what is perfect for one person is not perfect for another. Everyone has their own set of eyeballs and no two are the same. If you join a club, you can attend a few of their star parties and try out members scopes to see what works best for you before you buy a scope. The members can also help you when you get your scope and show you how to get the most out of your new scope. Hint: they will be especially helpful if you take cookies to star parties.

Some people will suggest that you purchase binnoculars. Not a bad idea but dont buy anything less than 10×50 and you must have a tripod too or you will not be happy with your astronomical views because they will be too shakey from your movements. Personally, I prefer a scope to binos.

But when you buy go Orion and you wont be disappointed.

Question: Can I take a camera tripod on a plane as part of my hand luggage?

I was not sure if this little piece of aluminum would be considered "dangerous. Thanks in advance, Jon

Answer: Tripods are not mentioned anywhere on the site Web TSA, so it is difficult to answer completely accurate. You can not bring into the cabin things like baseball bats, hockey sticks, lacrosse sticks, clubs and other similar items. It may be that a tripod would fall into the same category. best advice is to pack a bag check, if you are taking one, or leave behind. You may be able to get a response by contacting TSA: Phone: 1-866-289-9673 E-mail: TSA-ContactCenter@dhs.gov
