Question: What exactly is the point of a filter kit?

I got a zeikos filter kit with my canon rebel camera. I dont understand why i should have a purple or green lens on my camera. What help are these?
Also, I am a beginner sports photographer. Is a telephoto or wide angle lens better for action shots?
In the manual setting, the widest aperture that i can have is 4.5. So once the shutter speed gets to 1/400 or faster, the picture starts getting too dark. I’ve played around with the ISO, which helped a bit, but how else can I increase the brightness of a photo??

Answer: My suggestion to you is to go onto Amazon.com and look for books on basic photography that you can buy.
