When I got my Canon XTi the lens I chose to go with it as from Tamron…18-250 zoom. That Tamron zoom is the only lens on the market with a 14.9 zoom ratio. If you convert the 18-250 into 35 format it comes out to a 28-400 WOW!

Question: Which digital SLR camera would you recommend for a beginner?

I am 15 and have never been professionally before (except Form photographed my 2.0-megapixel phone camera), but I wanted to start, I would like a digital SLR camera, but my budget is only £ 140 – I would have nothing against it, they get second-hand, but you never know on the Internet, whether sources are trustworthy. Ideally, the camera should be small and light (and not too fragile!) It does not even need to SLR, but I want it for good quality, what would you recommend?

Answer: If you are just beginning want to stand and learn about photographic techniques, there is no real advantage in jumping into the DSLR now ……….. unless someone offers you a real bargain. I would suggest you get some experience with a compact camera that has manual controls – aperture priority, shutter priority and fully manual. This will help you understand the importance of Aperture, shutter speed, etc. They are also the opportunity to experiment with white balance, ISO sensitivity and other variables. There are not too many compacted that full manual controls, but immerse yourself have a variety of camera sites like Steve's Digicams, DP Review and cameralabs you should with some potential candidates to create. With your budget you may struggle to always have the latest and best models, but to shop. I picked up a Canon Powershot SX120 IS for just a little more than the budget, The camera is a pretty new and has full manual options, plus a 10-times zoom and image stabilization. I use it as a "carried out wherever needed" camera and as a backup for my Nikon DSLR.
