Question: proper lighting for shooting models! (photography)?
Okay so im new to professional photography, and a friend of mine who is a model is going to work with me.. but i need to know what is the right stuff to have is, or what all i need or am missing.. really, i need a ton of information haha, but this is what ive got, so what else is needed

Answer: You don't have enough of lighting... you will have to shoot at 400 ISO and your widest aperature. On your camera you will also have to set it for flouresant white for white balance. you can take photos of her with the lighting but the slightest movement will show up as a blur because of slow shutter speeds. You'll probably be shooting around 1/60 or 1/80. You'll can get higher , but the lights will be right on top of your model.
I can tell you went and got one of the economy lighting kits... their great for learning lighting but you will be limited in what you can do

Question: I am wanting to set up a small photo studio at home?I just bought the Cannon 40D and 580 EX II Flash. I am very happy with them, but I would like to create a small studio at home .. Answer: This is cheap Chinese set light will nothing but headaches. You have little recourse when they break (and they) and their money could be in the trash within a year. Here is a testimony to a user: "I had a flash Glanz 160Di for a year or so now, and has been a major headache. I can accept cheap construction because it is a cheap strobe light, but my drive has failed several times, and returned to Madsens a couple of times for repair. The first problem was that with the sync cable connected, even without a camera on the other end of the flash to auto-trigger, sometimes with machine guns style. Next problem was the smoke and flames coming after about 50 1 / 2 shot of energy in one session. The unit is replaced but the replacement suffered the same problem. This unit replaced the fuse and gave it back as is partly fused case and everything. Then this weekend I found the role of slaves no longer works. "I suggest you put your money in an Alien Bee (alienbee.com), when needed repairs will be simple, cheap and fast. Build your system as you can and will last decades.
