Thank you! I don't need super pro equipment, but, do want a few nice lights to do some home portraits of family and friends. I'm still in the learning phase, but, I do much better with the trial and error rather than just reading about how to do something. So, I'm wanting to buy a couple of lights and I'm looking at the SB600. Don't want to buy something that I will have to end up replacing later though!!!Answer: There may be an application for these lights if you are shooting small products to sell on the Internet using a light-tent.
40 WS (watt-seconds) is a tiny light output.
A typical rating on even a minimalist studio set up is at least 125 WS

Question: Want to start inhome portrait studio?I'm wanting to create some sort of inhome portrait studio but I'm not sure what equip to buy. I would be able to take pictures of my children with different color backdrops and accessories. (Since the form of Sears or JC Penney does) I have a Canon Rebel XTI digital camera. External Canon 300 flash and zoom. Photoshop program on my computer and photo printer friendly. What else should I buy? Any other suggestions or advice?
Answer: Off camera flash / strobe or continuous lighting, backdrops, but mostly ... You need to have the ability to use the camera. Is this something crowd? business or something? If hobby, you can get material for backdrops and lighting Fabric stores, improving home stores, etc. .. I hope this is a start.
