Question: Is there a digital SLR than using regular batteries? There is a digital SLR that uses no batteries, but a charger or a battery as the Canon PowerShot SD700? (I can not remember if this is the model number but you get the idea.)

Question: which dslr canon models can do remote flash like nikon?
you know how some (maybe most?) nikon dslr models (like 70d) can use external flash like sb-800 and "remote" the flash using the "built-in" function (sorry, not sure what the technical term of it is).
so i was wondering, is there any canon dslr models that have this function? from what i know, most of the canon dslrs will need to buy an extra transmitter and attach this to the camera in order to do "remote" flash.
thanks a bunch!
Answer: The Canon 7D I believe has a built in wireless transmitter to fire the flash off camera. There isn't a 70D Nikon btw. The Nikon models that can do wireless flash (with the built-in pop-up flash acting as 'commander') are the D70, D80, D90, D200, D300 & D700. The compatible Nikon speedlights that work with the system are SB600, SB800, SB900 and the small SB-R200. Nikon call it their AWL/CLS system (stands for Advanced Wireless Lighting/Creative Lighting System). Basically, you can control compatible speedlights off camera in either TTL or manual mode.
You are correct in that Canon users (apart from the 7D) have to buy an additional ST-E2 unit to mount on the camera to control Canon speedlights off camera. The other downside for Canon users is that you can't have rear curtain sync with off camera flashes (even Canon's own brand!). Nikon does rear curtain sync with its own flashes, plus any others fired by wireless remote.
Of course, as an alternative, you can buy any old manually adjustable speedlight (eg Vivitar 285HV) and a set of wireless triggers & you're good to go for off camera flash on ANY camera!!
PS Buying a third party flash & set of triggers will be a LOT cheaper than buying a Canon speedlight. Radio triggers will also not be limited by distance/line of sight as the Canon/Nikon IR optical systems are.
