Question: How to determine size of location of object in front of a converging lens?
im having trouble with my science homework. i know the object is 2.0 cm and is placed 25.0 cm in front of the converging lens and the converging lens has a focal length of 20 cm
someone please help me here.Answer: (you probably mean size AND location of IMAGE not what you wrote )
I assume you are referring to a ‘thin’ converging lens, one in which you can ignore the thickness of the lens.
there are 2 equations for this1/o + 1/i = 1/f
where
o is the object distance from the lens
i is the image distance from the lens
f is the focal length of the lenssecond
m = – i / o
where m is the magnification
plug in and solve (note that if the image distance comes out negative, the image will be a virtual image (will appear on the same side as the object and will not be inverted). this occurs when the object is within the focal length of the lens. Objects outside the focal length will have a ‘real’ image but be inverted.
1/25 + 1/i = 1/20
i=100cm
m = -100/25 = -4
image will be -8cm , real image inverted

Question: How do you clean the front lens of a telescope.?There are two front lens, one is a little convex, and one is' s not.there a thin Plastic O-ring between the lens.i tried to clean them myself, but the view is now a little distorted. why?
Answer: The problem is that the shape of the lens must be accurate to a millionth of a millimeter. To clean the lens with a cloth is like sand paper, and it changes the shape of the lens and fog likely it at the same time. Worse, there is an anti-glare coating that comes off when you try to clean it. These things are not eternal. Clean with distilled water. Use Get an airbrush obviously too big chunks. Their bias is the anti-reflective coating. Moreover, imported from misalignment, as the lens set again for mirrors, it is more or less the same. Finally, you need the mirror resilver. It does not last forever. The old metal removed chemically. Can at this point it make sense to polish the surface again and correct all optical errors. Then a new coat of metal – usually aluminum mounted. So the lens cap seems to not very important, but it is the life of the area. Another strategy is to provide tools that you can afford to throw buy. That's what I do for a telescope do.
