Question: I have an Olympus D490 that needs the flash door repaired. Can I do it myself?
The flash door that you manually pop up when you need flash is not working. Seems as though a spring or something similar is broken which makes the door snap up and snap down in place. I want to fix it myself.
Answer: When you have still warranty for that camera, you must not try to do anything yourself, or the warranty will become void.
Whether you can mend a camera or not depends first on what's wrong with it. Second if you have to replace a broken part, and according to your description I fear it's not a simple spring that's broken, you must have it fixed by Olympus.
