Question: How do I remove the rear lens cap from a Canon lens?Someone donated a Vivitar 135mm F2.8 telephoto short a charity shop who helped me a. The lens has a rear cap Canon Lens mounted so I suppose that is a canon mount. I tried to remove the cap to check the posterior elements for mushrooms, etc., but does not move. I have tried a reasonable degree of strength, both clockwise and anti clockwise. I also tried to push and pull for a graft to bayonet type. There are no obvious or conjunctions buttons and lens mount looks like it has three bayonet slots engage with a movement in a clockwise direction. Can anyone help? I do not want damage the lens and my reputation, as the stores of photographic equipment is at stake. Thank you.
Answer: It is more likely to have an older Canon FD Mount Lens (deleted and replaced by the current series EF). To remove the lenscam back, turn the chrome ring at the base of lens. When you rotate, you unlock the cap. To replace the back cover or to mount the lens on a Canon camera elderly, twist the chrome ring in opposite directions.
