Question: DVD Drive not reading Dual Layer DVD's?
My computer doesnt read any dual layer dvds but it does read and play single layer. It doesnt read the clean, brand new, no scratches dvds (dual layer) but i does read scratched (lightly) single layer dvds. I bought my computer in december 2007 so shouldnt it play dual layer? idk but it sucks cause i want to watch a movie on my computer and it doesnt even read it. It just loads and loads but nothing happens. i know that some people would say the lens is dirty but how do i clean it? can someone help me out here and explain what could be the problem or something...thanks.
Answer: It should. Looks like its a problem with your drive.

Question: If a CD-lens cleaner work in a DVD player?I have problems with my DVD player lately. I thought it was the hiring I was, I would clean them and they would work better, but I took a look at new DVDs and it began to act again (pause and then jump very frustrated ()), So I put my cd cleaner and it did not seem to fix the problem other ideas? It is a Phillips if that helps.
Answer: Yes, but not all lens cleaning discs work if your DVD player is placed in a slot-held unit with a tray that comes on the disc. If all else fails disconnect The device and remove the cover. Then you will find the laser lens and dust it gently with a cotton swab. Put the lid back on and try it. If you are probably not under the cover off and do it yourself, a repair shop should not work for a modest fee. Its possible the laser unit is old and Drink or the tracking engine or circuits go bad, and unless a very expensive device its become cheaper to get a new one.
