Question: Will the auto focus feature of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF Nikkor lens work properly on a Nikon D60?
Do I need to purchase AF, AF-S or DX lenses to get autofocus with the D60 body?
Answer: No, it won’t autofocus at all. The best you can do with this lens is focus manually, and the camera will illuminate a green focus dot in the viewfinder when it thinks the focus is correct (I think you may need to half-press shutter button to check).
For D60 you need lenses that have “AF-S” in the name, just “AF” without the “-S” tail part won’t autofocus on it. Also ancient and expensive AF-I will autofocus properly on it, but they are really antique in a way….
Basically the camera’s focusing mechanism will work, but it will not have a capability to turn the focusing system of a lens, as AF lenses rely on a camera having a motor to which they connect through a little screw drive to mechanically turn the focusing mechanism. The AF-S abd AF-I lenses have that motor built into lens, so camera just needs to electronically tell it which way to turn, and lens does the rest.
LEM.
P.S. Being DX has nothing to do with autofocusing. You can purchase both DX and non-DX lenses, for as long as they are AF-S or AF-I. DX has to do with size of the circle that lens projects. The DX lenses are a bit cheaper, but project a smaller circle, that is perfectly usable with your D60 body, but won’t work well with full-frame bodies like D3(x), D700 or any 35mm film bodies.

Question: How can I remove dust from inside of my Nikkor? How do I remove dust from inside of my Nikkor? My uncle recently gave me Zoom Nikkor 80-200mm lens f/4.0s, but it has some dust inside.
Answer: First of all, clean both ends of the lens correctly. Do not use lens cleaning fluid, because nowdays all lenses are coated with a protective layer. Using liquid lenses detergent will damage the coating. Normally the blue shadow on the lens will show that is coated. Normally a soft velvet cloth removes dust. You can also use mouth to blow, – the thin vapor of water and a velvet cloth does the work. Very often, at least here in India, is not the problem of dust, but the formation of the fungus inside and outside, which is more annoying. Outside, at least to an extent that we canget rid themethod that I just mentioned. But inside is better that it is just left as is. It 'almost impossible to open a lens and replace, because the factory has installed the precision of a few microns. I noticed the practice tha tin this fungus inside the lens does not affect significantly the final result of your photograph. Professional duties for the repair of these lenses are so high that it is better to buy a new one. we in India do it, because here the labor is cheap. but it is very difficult work, esp. without proper tools.

Question: I need help figuring out what digital camera to buy.?
I asked before, and got some good answers, but I’m going to revise my question.
I am an amateur photographer being held back by my crappy Ricoh Caplio RR30. Seriously, it sucks. Here is a picture of the nasty little thing:
http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/testbilder/kameras_0225/ricoh_caplio_rr30_p.jpg
It’s only 3.2 megapixels and 3x optical zoom, not good enough to do what I take pics of. (Which are action shots of running horses and moving vehicles… etc.)
I need an upgrade, wouldn’t you agree?
So, I admit I don’t know much about the really technical details about cameras, but I am a really fast learner, so I would be able to figure out the camera. I know I want at least 6 megapixels, and something over 8 or 10x optical zoom would be nice. And it needs to have a fast shutter speed and be good at taking action shots.
Now here’s the problem. The price-tag. I’m looking for something under $350 or so. I was looking at the Canon S3 IS.
Any other suggestions or ideas? Thnx!
Answer: I consider myself a bit of an amateur photgographer myself and have looked at many makes and models. What I am about to say is my personal opinion only. IF there are people out there who really know their stuff I would like to hear what they think about this question as well.
I think for what you want vs the price tag is a pretty good buy. I am assuming that it is in USD $350? For the specs, I think you will get great shots of moving objects – especially with image stabiliser feature. Personally though, at maximum zoom, I am still not totally convinced about getting the photo real sharp.
No matter what people say and what our collective opinion is here on Y!A, the moment you buy the camera – no matter what it is – there will be a new model released which will make you think “Oh! If only I wait for that one!”

Question: Apart from these cameras? What I want from a camera: high quality, anti-blur "system and the ability to record good videos. Someone could give me any help choosing? Answer: The Canon. that's all I've ever owned. Once you've got the best, you can not go back. I was forced to use a Nikon in my life, a D50 for a job Boston and I always wanted to go home and get my 30D. Heck, my Powershot would have done better than the D50.
