Question: Should I buy a Sanyo VPC-S870EX / VPC-S870EXP digital camera?
Hi
I have been trying to find a review on the internet to see if other people have any problems with this camera or they are happy with it. I am worried after seeing some terrible reviews for another sanyo camera. Please let me know if you have this camera and if you are happy with it. Thanks!
Answer: There is a great website for reading up about cameras, called dpreview.com. I just checked and they don’t even LIST that camera!
It is a very tiny and very ordinary camera, and personally I’d stick with either Canon or Nikon.
Little P&S cameras all have limitations (shutter lag and low light issues being the worst).
It really depends on exactly WHAT you want to achieve with it and what your expectations are.
If your intention is to take snapshots in pretty good light, then that camera will work just fine.
If you want to take photos in less than ideal lighting situations, then it won’t do all that well. This one is more expensive, but you also get a lot more camera, and it is a great compromise between a little P&S and a DSLR – it allows much room for learning and creativity: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=17630
